What is this Neo-standard?

A Friendly Disclaimer
First up I should point out that the neo-standard is nothing to do with Hadrian Aventine's
neoverse or ZeroAdunn's neo-mod, although they have both contributed compatible mods. It is also
completely unrelated to Suicide Junkie's imagemod. As well as sounding cool, the word "neo means
"new", which describes this standard perfectly=-)
What is it?
The neostandard is simply a list of new images sizes, in addition to the usual escort, frigate etc.
Why?
Because there are many mods out there which use extra images, and there are plenty of shipset designers who'd like to expand their shipsets beyond the ordinary hull sizes prescribed by Malfador. The neostandard is designed to bring these two things together.
Artists can create extra images for their shipsets in the knowledge that those images will be used by mods. Modders can freely create extra hull sizes in the knowledge that they will look cool with extra images.
The Neobuilder
To support shipsets which haven't included neo-standard images, modders have three options:
- In SE4 Gold, a secondary image can now be specified for an entry in the vehicle size text file.
- There is a neoexpansion pack, which provides neostandard images for the races supplied with the game.
- Suicide Junkie has created a neo-builder program, which can expand any shipset neo-standard compatibility by duplicating existing images from the shipset. Download it here

If you are a modder or you are creating a shipset, you can take part quite easily:
Modders: If your vehiclesize.txt includes ship sizes other than the ones in the standard game, take a look through the neo-standard list and see if any of them could be used to represent your ship. You can always use the "secondary image" line as a backup.
Shipset creators: Look through the neo-standard list and consider adding some or all of the sizes listed to your set.
In either case, make sure you tell me about it afterwards so I can list your mod/ shipset on this page.
